Meet Alison

I am a mom and teacher living in Glendora with my husband, two sons, and one cat. I've lived in three countries, four US States, and more cities than both of those numbers combined. My husband and I chose Glendora when we moved from Houston, Texas, ten years ago. This is the longest I have lived consecutively anywhere in my life.

I am an enthusiastic participant in our community, a former GUSD teacher, and a passionate advocate for all students. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Teaching with double minors in Speech Communications Education and British & Commonwealth Literature. I have taught English, ELD, Debate, Intervention, and Study Skills courses at all levels of secondary education and at community colleges between California and Texas since 2011. I've also had the privilege of working in some capacity at each school site in Glendora USD over the years. I know Glendora USD to be a special place from the inside and out.

I currently teach English and lead the English Language Development Program at Duarte High School.  I also do volunteer service in the Glendora Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints community, have worked with their youth and the Relief Society organizations in the past, and I currently teach adult Sunday School in the Citrus Ward.

I like to borrow a favorite phrase from the Lone Star State, "I wasn't born in Glendora, but I got here as soon as I could.”  I am excited to build on our GUSD legacy of excellence and start a new chapter with the Glendora Board of Education and all of you.

Mission Statement

01
Committing to Exellence

We owe it to our students, GUSD team, families, and community to continue living up to the high academic expectations we hold for ourselves.

02
Advocating for Outliers

None of us fits perfectly into the ‘typical’ box, but some of us need more support to succeed in typical classrooms and workspaces.

03
Getting Things Done

I believe in our ability to work together in our common interest–the success of our current students and future leaders in this town.

Let's Write the Next Chapter Together

This is a grassroots campaign with big ideas and a small budget. Help Alison compete this election season! Whether $5 or $500, your donation makes a difference.
